Biodesulfurization of Crude and Diesel Oil by Candida Parapsilosis NSH 45 Isolated from Egyptian Hydrocarbon Polluted Sea Water

ABSTRACT: Sulfur removal from crude oil and its distillates is important from the stand point of global environment and economical view point for upgrading and improving the quality of crude oil and its distillates. Candida parapsilosis NSh 45 isolated from Egyptian hydrocarbon polluted sea water, has the ability to desulfurize 71% of 1000 ppm dibenzothiophene at pH7 within 7 days of incubation at 30°C (200 rpm) in presence of glycerol as a c-source. Also it could remove up to 82% of 12,400ppm sulfur content in diesel oil, keeping its calorific value unchanged. It could also reduce the sulfur content of Belayim Mix crude oil (2.74 wt% sulfur) by 75% decreasing the average molecular weight of asphatene by 27.9% and its dynamic viscosity by 69.62%.
