ABSTRACT: Adsorption properties of carbon sorbents obtained by a peat microwave carbonization have been studied. It has been established that as a result of carbonization, the sorbent capacity of carbon sorbents for iodine increases significantly, while for methylene blue and for methane yellow it decreases. The carbon sorbent obtained by microwave carbonization of peat is characterized by low moisture content, high buoyancy and oil sorbent capacity, which makes it competitive among other sorbents for collecting oil and oil products.
