ABSTRACT: Biotechnology techniques are powerful tools that can supplement traditional breeding mode and improve crop cultivation. In vitro clonal propagation of chilli is relatively slower than other members of Solanaceae family because of its recalcitrant nature which makes it difficult to apply Recombinant DNA Technology. This review presents a consolidated data of cultivation pattern, diseases attacking chilli, breeding methods in chilli and advanced techniques in chilli Biotechnology.
