ABSTRACT: Low cost technology approaches to the recycling of wastewater is gaining importance taking into account the global increase in inevitable wastewater produced. Wetlands with its assemblage of flora and fauna can be effectively used to remove pollutants from the aquatic environment. The present paper reviews the various components and processes of wetlands which function for the improvement of water quality.
