ABSTRACT: Pithophora oedogonia is a common alga of clear stagnant waters forming dense mats. The alga is generally considered as a nuisance alga and has been extensively studies for its growth requirements and characteristics to suggest control measures. However, its phycochemical qualities are not known. The neutraceutical properties of the alga were evaluated and compared with Spirulina which is commonly used in neutraceutical products.
