ABSTRACT: study was carried out on the effect of a local plant; Sesbania sesban (Zamarke) extract on the four most prevalent species of fungi associated with adults ringworm diseases in Idah. 183 clinical specimens were examined, out of which 151 (82.5%) had ringworm diseases. Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton soudanense and Microsporum canis were the most prevalent mycoflora with 17.19, 14.03, 16.29 percentage frequencies of occurrence respectively. Candida albicans had 23.53 percentage frequency of occurrence. The effect of this medicinal plant on these species of microorganisms were also investigated. The results showed that the ethanolic extract exhibited the highest sensitivity against C. albicans. The phytochemical analysis of the extracts was also made to determine the active components responsible for the inhibitory effects. The significance of the results obtained from the study has been extensively discussed.
