New Plant Records for Toranmal Flora of Satpuda Range, Nandurbar Distict of Maharashtra State

ABSTRACT: Five new flowering plant species are reported for the first time form Toranmal Satpuda region of Maharashtra state.

Introduction
The flora of Satpuda has not been extensively explored except few reports of Mahabale and Karnik (1960) , Karnik ( 1955, 56, 57, 66 ) Jain and Deshpande (1964 ) reported 365 species form Khandesh. Mahabale and Karnik has reported 484 species spread over 322 genera and 80 families. Mathew (1988 ) reported 747 species from entire Dhule District. During the course of botanical exploration (1998-2000) in Toranmal region , Nandurbar district. We have collected plant species which are not recorded in Flora of Maharashtra state Ed.Singh et. al. (1996, 2000 and 2001) and Dhule district Mathew (1998 ). The species reported in the present paper are recorded first time form Toranmal, Satpuda region.
Tribulus alatus Family : Zygophyllaceae

Procumbent or ascending , densely silky- villous herb. Leaflets 3-6 pairs. 0.5-1.2 cm long,- appressed – ericeo- villous, linear – oblong to elliptic oblong. Flower 1-1.2 cm across, yellow. Cocci 5, hirsute, each coccus 2seeded.

Distribution : North Africa, Arabia, Western India.
Critical note : An addition to the flora of Dhule district.

Vicia hirsuta (L. ) S. F. Gray. Family : Papilionaceae

Slender , straggling or clmbing herbs . Leaves 2.3-3.2 cm long. Leaflets 5-10 pairs, 0.4-1cm long, appressed pubescent. Corolla smaller , scarrely exserted from calyx. Pod oblique, more turgid, finally black.

Distribution : Cultivated throughout
Ecological note : As an escape ,usually a weed in cultivated field. Extremely rare.
Critical noes : An addition to the flora of Dhule district.

A low diffuse perennial with slender shrubby finely down branches. Leaves 1”- 3”long . leaflets 60-100, linear, obliquely mucronate . Flower 1-2, together in the axis of leaves on short pedicels . Pod glabrescent or finely downy ; septa more or less oblique.

Distribution : Cosmopolitan in tropics.

Floating herbs , stems flexuose, ascending in water , leaves alternate , Crowded on the upper part of the stem , broadly ovate- rhomboid , glabrous dark green above and prominently nerved beneath . flowers white above water surface . axillary , solitary . nut 1.4- 2.5 cm long and as much broad , black with a short conical beak in the centre at the apex, 1-seeded.

Distribution: Throughout india , Malaya, Tropical Africa.
Ecological note: Cultivated in ponds at some places.
Critical note: Fruits roasted and eaten by the local.

An annual herb , rooting at nodes . stem branched , pubescent. Leaves very variable alternate , obovate or broadly ovate, nerves prominent beneath. Capitula few , globose, panicled. Pedicels long, each with a linear , acute bracts near the centre. Involucral bract minute , linear, inner disc florets yellow . Corolla 4-5 toothed. Outer floret filiform, curved . Achenes compressed, smooth.

Distribution : India, Sri –Lanka, Malaya, China, Africa.
Ecological notes : Common weed along road- sides.
Critical notes : An addition to the flora of Dhule District.
